Company History

SAMPI SpA was founded in Lucca in 1937 as a company for trade with mineral lube oils and additives, growing quickly and implementing a capillary distribution network all over Italy.

As an active player in Italy’s reconstruction after World War II, SAMPI widened its activities by getting into the business of major oil companies’ road gasoline stations.

In the 60-ies, following the introduction of new regulations for the distribution and sale of oil products, the company extended further its business activity to the distribution of pumps and Liquid Controls PD meters.

Due to the increasing demand and based on the experience gained in this specific field, at the end of the 60-ies SAMPI stepped further to the manufacture of PD meters in Italy, under licence by Liquid Controls.

In a short time SAMPI became the leader in the Italian market and at the dawn of the 80-ies was ready to expand its business in the international arena, with its own distribution network in Europe and Africa.

In 1989 SAMPI, first company in Italy, launched TE480, the first generation of its electronic flow computers on the market. During the years SAMPI has progressively focused its product lines on integrated measuring systems for oil products with a bigger consumption (gasolines, diesel fuels, LPG), working out new electronic products for the automation of tank trucks and terminals.

In January 2002 SAMPI joined IDEX Corporation (www.idexcorp.com), business leader in the manufacture of a wide range of pumps, dosing systems and other high technology products. Being voted to leadership IDEX delivers innovation, diversification and excellence to thousands key customers worldwide.

In June 2004 SAMPI opened its new facility in Altopascio, in the very heart of Tuscany.
